Introducing our Vegetable Wash, a simple yet effective solution designed to naturally cleanse your produce. This solution includes the cleaning power of sodium carbonate and the natural acids of vinegar and lemon juice, to help remove dirt, bacteria, and residual pesticides. Safe, eco-friendly, and easy to make, this wash ensures your fruits and vegetables are not only clean but also safe for consumption. Perfect for health-conscious individuals and anyone looking to reduce their exposure to unwanted chemicals.

Ingredients

1 cup distilled water
1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon sodium carbonate
A few drops of a mild, organic liquid soap (Ensure it is free from fragrances, dyes, and harsh chemicals)

Equipment

Spray bottle
Funnel
Measuring spoons

Instructions

In a small bowl, dissolve the sodium carbonate in the distilled water. (Be careful handling sodium carbonate as it's more caustic than baking soda).

Add the apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice to the sodium carbonate solution. The mixture will fizz due to the reaction between the baking soda and vinegar. Wait until the fizzing subsides before proceeding.

Add liquid soap. Add a few drops of the mild, organic liquid soap to the mixture. This serves as a substitute for commercial surfactants, helping to break down oily residues on produce.

Transfer to spray bottle. Using the funnel, carefully pour the mixture into your spray bottle.

Shake gently. Secure the cap and shake the bottle gently to ensure all the ingredients are well mixed.

How to Use

Step 1: Spray the wash directly onto your fruits and vegetables, covering them thoroughly.

Optional: If there's a large amount of dirt and residues on the fruits or vegetables, allow the wash to sit on the produce for 1 minute to help loosen dirt and residues.

Optional: For items with thicker skins, use a clean produce brush to gently scrub the surface.

Step 2: Rinse your fruits and vegetables under cold running water to remove the wash along with any loosened debris.

Step 3: Pat dry the produce with a clean cloth or paper towel before storing or using it.

Store the fruit and vegetable wash in a cool, dark place and use it within one week for the best quality. Shake well before each use.
